Helen has been involved in a range of financial remedy proceedings, involving pension provision and the division of matrimonial debt. She has advised on applications for maintenance pending suit, the enforcement and remission of maintenance arrears.

Divorce & Separation

She has a particular interest in matrimonial finance and Schedule 1 applications.  She is interested in developing a practice in divorce claims with jurisdictional issues; and has also been involved in cases regarding the enforcement of Orders for ancillary relief.

Helen has a growing employment law practice.  She has experience of a range of matters, including unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal and discrimination claims; with experience of cases brought under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 in both the criminal and civil courts, she is also able to advise on cases involving harassment and bullying in the workplace.

Helen has advised in a range of contractual disputes; arising from the variation of agreements, breaches of statutorily implied terms, the incorporation of terms and contractual construction.  She has also represented clients in respect of Civil Restraint Orders.  Formerly the Legal Director of a national enforcement agency, she has appeared in Form 4 hearings, in respect of complaints made against certificated bailiffs and the unlawful seizure of goods.

Helen has over 7 years’ experience in personal injury (road traffic accidents, public and employers’ liability claims), fatal accidents, product liability (including breaches of implied terms under the Sale of Goods Act 1979) and clinical negligence claims (for both claimants and defendants).  

In particular, she has extensive experience of catastrophic injury claims; and cases involving complex liability, medical causation and quantum issues.   She has experience of claims against the Ministry of Defence and she is currently developing her practice in occupational illness claims, including but not limited to: industrial disease (such as noise induced hearing loss); harassment, stress and bullying at work.  In addition, Helen has drafted Part 8 pleadings in claims for provisional damages.

Helen has also been involved in medical and dental negligence claims and cases relating to complex orthopedic injury, birth injury, delayed and wrongful diagnosis.
 
In addition, she has experience of inquests.

Landlord and tenant

Helen has advised at all stages of proceedings, representing both landlords and tenants in claims involving allegations of disrepair; surrender and breach of tenancy agreements.
